Journalling into August.

How does using a journal help?

Using a journal to write and track ones thoughts, feelings and emotions may help decrease your mental distress alongside lessening anxiety and depressive symptoms. A clinical study conducted in 2016 revealed that Journaling was associated with increasing well-being and reducing mental distress alongside building resilience after the 1st and 2nd month (Smyth & Jillian, 2018). Whilst journalling write down what is troubling you and how it makes you feel. As well as what is troubling you be sure to write what is inspiring you at the moment, where you want to be and how you want to get there. Through this process you are empowering yourself and are helping to shift your mindset. Of course, journaling may not work for everyone, but it’s always worth a try. You may need additional support such as counselling or other support services. So, get your pens out and write down what is troubling or inspiring you, or both.
